There were miles of smiles along the parade route Sunday as the members of the Marching Buccaneers led the celebration down Bridge Street for the 2010 Independence Day Celebration. 

With the heat projected to be well into the 80's, it was a difficult decision to wear the wool "Blues." Fortunately, Mother Nature stepped in and offered a beautiful breeze that kept everyone reasonably cool. That is easy to say, however, as I was walking comfortably in shorts and a golf shirt next to those bundled up in wool uniforms. The uniforms are important, though, and they represent all of the students and families that have walked before us in the parade. Student safety is a priority always for the Marching Buccaneers staff and thankfully the wind off the lake kept the parade route cool.
